One of my favorite books of all time is Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. It essentially revolves around people being frightened of the ideas books can give, so they begin burning books. Imagine all of the books that have been challenged being burned! We wouldn't have the Harry Potter series, 1984, To Kill a Mockingbird, or The Lord of the Rings. It's an interesting (and easy) read, but especially good for those of us who love books.
Speaking of banned books, The American Library Association celebrates Banned Books Week every year. Read more about it here: http://www.ala.org/advocacy/banned/bannedbooksweek
I couldn't imagine some of my favorite books being burned! :0 I'll definately check into it.
ReplyDeletethis is a very good book. Its too bad that we won't be getting any new ones from Bradbury. R.I.P
ReplyDeleteAgreed. If you like Bradbury, check out his official website: http://www.raybradbury.com/
ReplyDeleteThey have video clips of him talking about how science fiction is all around us. Neat stuff.
