Why I Love Amish Books

People tend to think I'm a weirdo when I tell them about my fascination with Amish Books. (Espically Amish romance.) Most people think the Amish in general are weird because of the way they choose to live their lives. But honestly, it takes courage to step away from the "norm" of the standards our society has set. They live in a much more peaceful world than we expericence. They live the simple life, that many of us have to go on vacations to experience. I'm not saying that I could ever live like that, I'm too used to my modern conviences. But to escape by reading one of these books, it's like a vacation in itself. They have their share of heartache like we all do, falling in love with an "englisher" (one who is not a part of the Amish community). Amish books also give me and my best friend something to talk about that not many people even know about. I know that these books aren't for everyone, but I think that you should give them a try. Post a comment for book recommendations. :)

  1. Your opinion is very eye opening. I like how you are persuasive but not demanding. I actually might consider reading amish boks. Any suggestions?

  2. I don't know much about the Amish, other than the dedication it must take to not make use of the modern conveniences we have (like electricity!). You are a good advocate for these books--I'm going to have to read one now!

  3. Thanks :) Beverly Lewis writes a very good series called Annie's people. The first book is called the Preacher's Daughter. It is about a girl who has a natural gift for painting but is prohibited to do so by her father. When her English pen-pal who is an art teacher comes to the community for a visit, she is faced with the ultimate struggle-- to keep true to her community or to leave her faith and pursue her dream of becoming an artist.
